At Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), walking from your bed to the check-in counter only works for Terminal 3. The enclosed Runway Manila footbridge, 220 metres long with moving walkways, links the T3 building to Newport City in Pasay, where Newport World Resorts and its hotels stand. Terminals 1 and 2 have no hotel you can reach on foot, so if you fly Philippine Airlines (international from T1, domestic from T2) or AirAsia abroad, a short walk to T3 does not help you. Runway Manila is the only covered pedestrian link between a NAIA terminal and a hotel district. It opened in April 2017, runs 220 metres, is enclosed and air-conditioned, and has moving walkways and elevators, so a roller case and a stroller both get across without stairs. Use of the bridge is free. Reports from its opening put the crossing at under ten minutes. That covered walk is the whole reason to sleep in Newport City rather than booking by straight-line distance alone. There is also a café at its Terminal 3 end, and the bridge was designed to hold about 2,000 people at once.

Check your terminal on the ticket before you choose a hotel. Terminal 3 is the hub of Cebu Pacific for its domestic flights, apart from those of its regional brand CebGo, and for its international flights, and it also handles many foreign carriers. Philippine Airlines works from Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic ones. AirAsia moved all its international flights from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 on 29 March 2026, so older guides that send AirAsia passengers across Runway Manila are now wrong. Booking sites disagree on how far it is from Terminal 3, a sign that the walking route is not a straight line and includes a stretch of street. I would treat it as a Terminal 3 hotel you can reach on foot with light bags, and take a car when you are travelling with several suitcases or small children. Terminal 3 itself also fronts Andrews Avenue, so that car ride is a short one.

If your flight leaves from Terminal 1 or 2, a walkable T3 hotel still works through the free inter-terminal shuttle that the airport operator NNIC runs around the clock between Terminals 1, 2 and 3. The catch: you must show a boarding pass or a flight itinerary to board, and you first have to walk into Terminal 3 to catch it. For a very early Philippine Airlines departure I would book a car the night before rather than stack a walk and a shuttle ride. The same buses also carry passengers with reduced mobility between the terminals.

A traveler's take

For a Cebu Pacific flight from Terminal 3, I would sleep at one of the Newport World Resorts hotels and walk across Runway Manila: the bridge is covered, flat for luggage, and it takes the morning taxi out of the equation. I would only pick the condotel unit after sorting out the exact building and the key handover with the host, because a private apartment may have no night reception to turn to after a late landing. For Philippine Airlines, or AirAsia international flights, both out of Terminal 1 or 2, I would not choose a hotel for its walk to T3 at all: the advantage disappears the moment you need the inter-terminal bus.
