Our take
I would recommend The Rockaway Hotel to a family that wants a beachside stay around a JFK flight rather than a plain airport night. The outdoor pool, spa, restaurant and kitchens in some rooms give it a holiday feel, and JFK is under 30 minutes by taxi. A 9 rating from more than 1,500 reviews is a strong signal. For a very early flight I would choose a hotel closer to the terminal.
- Plan your airport transfer in advance; a taxi is the quickest option for JFK.
- Take advantage of the beach access and outdoor pool if your schedule allows for relaxation.
- Consider a room with a kitchen if you prefer to prepare your own meals during your stay.
